Marina Cavtat & Resort
Cavtat, 2020
Cavtat is a landscape defined by its historical weight and its coastal rhythm. As our studio’s first complete masterplan, this project was an opportunity to create a total environment where the ancient soul of the Adriatic meets contemporary living. We envisioned an exclusive destination that feels both modern and authentic, a place where the boundary between the historical town and the new resort begins to fade.
The masterplan is divided into two distinct yet connected zones, a waterfront promenade and a vibrant, mixed-use town center. Our primary focus was to ensure a genuine symbiosis between the built environment and the local Dalmatian character, where vegetation is not just an ornament but a crucial, living foundation of the design. We translated the wild, natural greenery of the region into the masterplan through biodiversity corridors, allowing the resort to merge seamlessly with the surrounding macchia. In the urban outdoor areas, we reimagined traditional elements such as piazzettas and shaded avenues, applying modern design principles to create intimate private gardens and welcoming public waterfronts.
This project represents a significant milestone for the studio, proving that a large-scale intervention can still feel deeply rooted and respectful of its origins. By prioritizing local biodiversity and the spirit of the place, we ensured that the resort remains a natural extension of the Cavtat coastline.
